Operating System won’t boot

If the hardware appears to be ok, here are some steps to try to resolve OS problems:

1. Hold down the shift key while booting the computer; this is similar to Windows Safe Mode boot.
2. Try booting into single-user mode:
1. Hold down Command-S while booting the computer
2. type in: "fsck -fy"
3. type in: "mount -uw"
4. type in: "chown root:admin /"
5. type in: "reboot"
